Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
